Canal & Riverside Trust (CRT)
Following correspondence with the Canal & Riverside Trust (CRT) the National Federation of Bridleways Associations need those who ride any canal towpath to contact them, especially those on the Leeds/Liverpool canal. Information that they need is:
• Canal name
• Stretch ridden
• Is it a statutory bridleway, concessionary or de facto access?
• How long have you ridden this towpath
• Do you have any knowledge of verified incidents of user conflict?
Please do not dally. They want to strike whilst the iron is hot ... but remember, Canal access was sought by LRBA in the past but without success so don't raise your hopes too high! Please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone on: 07817 725976
As you know, all off road horse riding routes not registered at present as bridleways or byways have to be added to the definitive map by 31st December 2025 or else they will be lost for ever! The Leicestershire Local Access Forum has set up a special committee to carry out the detailed historic research needed to prove registration and the LRBA Executive Committee have agreed to donate £300 per year from now until 2025 to help with the incidental expenses associated with this work. If you would like to be involved in this project, either by participating or by making a personal donation, please contact our Networks Officer, Vicky Allen email@example.com who will be delighted to hear from you.
